Web Development:

I have worked both independently and with teams on interactive projects, gathering information and providing services for the user. In 2004, I redesigned UConn's Student Employment site using JobX software. I converted the site into templates, cleaned up the markup and scripting code, and integrated it into a content management system. The added functionality allows employers to post job listings and students to search and apply for jobs online.

I recently spearheaded the effort to bring a content management system, Joomla!, to the UConn Financial Aid website and worked with students to implement an interactive forms system. Working with PHP and the GD library, the website generates images from HTML forms that can be previewed, edited, and submitted to a document imaging program (ImageNow). This interactive "Form Portal" can be configured through a Joomla! component and pulls data from PeopleSoft.

My work for UConn includes:

My recent work has been geared toward academic and business applications, but I have also designed graphics-intensive and non-traditional websites. Examples include:

Graphic Design:

In addition to the graphics work associated with web design, I have created designs for print. As an intern for UConn's Creative Writing Program, I designed its newsletter, all of its Spring 2004 calendars, and other promotional materials (such as posters, brochures, and postcards).

My graphics work extends past my office and academic experience. I drew, colored, and lettered the comic strip "DiGG" for four years, which was printed in college newspapers. I have worked extensively with Adobe's software suite, using Photoshop on a daily basis. More examples of my work may be found at DeviantArt.

Presentation & Speaking:

Although much of my work has kept me at a computer desk, I have facilitated discussions, given presentations, and assisted professors in the classroom.

I worked as a Freshman Orientation Leader and Husky WOW Leader in Summer 2003, and a student mentor that following Fall. I enjoy speaking and have been giving the additional responsibility of preparing lesson plans and student activities.

I have also participated in theatre programs, in both high school and college. Most recently, I acted in Godspell and Pippin with UConn's Dramatic P.A.W.S.

Project Management:

As Lead Web Developer for UConn's Office of Student Financial Aid Services, I currently supervise a team of five student workers. Along with coordinating web projects and updates, I have trained administrators and student workers to make changes to website content and generate reports from databases.

I have also trained professors and administrators in basic web-editing (HTML, Dreamweaver, Acrobat) for the English Department and Creative Writing websites.

I have participated in various workshops and conventions. Most recently, I attended Foresite Solutions Blue Sky conference and represented my office at the annual LinuxWorld convention. I have coordinated projects with both UConn's UITS office and the staff of Foresite Solutions.

Writing & Editing:

I have a solid background in writing and literature. Along with my BA from UConn, I minored in English and had a Concentration in Creative Writing. I enjoy reading non-fiction and scientific articles as well.

I have written press releases, newsletters, and promotional materials as an intern for the Creative Writing Program. I have also produced technical writing and tutorials for UConn.

In 2004, I was Public Relations Manager for the Long River Review literary journal, and became Managing Editor in 2005. I spent many hours editing content and page layout, as well as choosing submissions and coordinating business transactions.
